G8: Long-Term Electric Energy Economics
Power system economics can be divided into two main time frames, short-term and long-term. The former seeks to draw the operating plans of the power system based on the most economically efficient decisions ranging from minutes to weeks. The later seeks to inform potential investors and power system operators on the potential impacts of large scale investments in generation or transmission and to assess the costs of operating the system with such investments.
This course presents methodologies to assess the operating costs of the system and also ways to evaluate power system expansion.
