Course Description

Goals

To introduce students to

  1. Generation planning
  2. Transmission planning
  3. Distribution and microgrid planning

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, you will be able to

  1. Develop generation planning alternatives, evaluate them, and select the best alternative
  2. Appreciate the challenges associated with planning of renewable energy sources
  3. Develop transmission planning alternatives, evaluate them, and elect the best alternative
  4. Develop distribution, including microgrid, planning alternatives, evaluate them, and elect the best one
  5. Understand how to deal with uncertainties in planning
